How to Thinapp the VMware vSphere Infrastructure Client

Image

You’ve packaged everything else with ThinApp so why not start packaging your VMware stuff? Creating a ThinApp for the vSphere Infrastructure is fairly easy to do either using AppLink or simply installing and capturing a single package with Microsoft .net and Microsoft Visual Studio J# . To capture the vic and use existing .net and j# packages as plugins follow the steps below.

  1. On your clean packaging machine, run a pre-scan.
  2. Install the vSphere Infrastructure Client on a system that already has .net 3.5 and j# 2.0.
  3. Launch the vSphere Infrastructure Client.
  4. Run your post-scan and choose all defaults within ThinApp to complete.
  5. Before completing the final build follow the guidelines already published for previous versions by VMware in this blog entry. Note that a lot of the folders to delete mentioned in the article will not be present when capturing the package on a system that already has .net/j#.
