A couple of very easy, but very neccessary ThinApp’s
Accept all defaults during installation and follow your same standard packaging steps to get these commonly needed applications to work. Then simply use a single entry point for the application as a plugin for Internet Explorer, Firefox, or another web browser using the AppLink feature of ThinApp.
Adobe Shockwave Player
Adobe Flash Player
Microsoft Silverlight

I am new to ThinApp.
I’m trying to ThinApp an older version of Flash Player (v10.1.x) so that it will be used be a native (not packaged) browser what a specific URL is typed.
Any suggestions?
I am not sure if that is possible what you are trying to do. There is a feature in the new ThinApp 4.6 that allows using different versions of IE based on a URL though.
how to thinapp microsoft expressions blend 4…plz reply …
Not sure as I haven’t tried that one, what issues are you running into?
when i launch the shortcuts it gives me an error stating that microsoft expression blend has stopped working.check for the online solution and close the program….
I am assuming this requires .net? It sounds like it is possible that service was running when you completed the capture. Ensure the services for .net are stopped before completing the setup capture.

Hello there, I have been reading in earnest trying to figure out two things under thin app’ing
1) services ( we have a number of applications that are service based and I’m having a hard time looking for items like this on Google.
I have run the prescan installed the application stopped the service leaving it set to automatic
Then run the postscan only edit to the ini being streaming=1
2) seems there are many articles on how to get flash 10 working with Firefox and seeing as it is not our native browser i have just slipstreamed flash and shock wave plugins into the package but the real problem is native ie8 in win7 x64 or x86 and getting flash and shockwave to work as plug in’s..
Would you have any thoughts or be able to point me into the right direction to read up on these 2 items
Thank you in advance
I completely agree; AppLink is one of those features that flies under the radar.. but it’s absolutely invaluable.
I pretty much only run portable apps. I keep a ThinApp .exe for all of the major runtime libraries. However, I find that Silverlight 4 doesn’t work perfectly; when used to watch Netflix, DRM always fails with an (8152) error. Silverlight 3 never had this problem. In the past month, Netflix has decided to force users to upgrade their Silverlight.. which means that I can no longer use a portable browser to stream content.
note: both my native OS and the VMware image that I use to capture ThinApps are WinXP SP3; difference being that the VMware image is a snapshot taken after a clean (OS) install. When Silverlight is installed into the virtual (guest) OS, Netflix works without any problem (from a browser running within this guest OS). When Silverlight is packaged and used on the host (ie: native) OS.. DRM error.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know of a way to correct the capture before build that will fix this?
update:
turns out that all I needed to do was update my version of ThinApp;
I was using: VMware ThinApp 4.6.0-287958
when I got the DRM error;
upgrading to: VMware ThinApp 4.6.2-467908
reusing the same capture (taken using the previous version)
but building with this newer version:
no DRM error and Netflix runs perfectly.
thank you ThinApp!
..you always come through for us
I’m trying to thinapp Silverlight and it seemed to have gone ok. When I launch IE (which is already on the Desktop) Silverlight doesn’t seem to be registered as a plug in. It shows as installed via Add/Remove and is on the start menu. I’m a bit of a beginner at this so any advice would be welcome. I don’t, for instance, understand what you mean by the bit above about entry point. I’ve just accepted the default of the sliverlight exe – should I have done something else?
Sorry to ask thick questions and thanks for your patience
Cheers
Chris
