How To ThinApp Adobe Acrobat Professional 9

Adobe Acrobat Professional is an application that presents some limitations to what can be virtualized. There is no way to virtualize a printer driver and as result while the Application itself can be virtualized, the Adobe PDF Printer cannot.
The solution?
- Capture the software as you would any other ThinApp, but remove the Adobe PDF Printer before completing the capture process. If you do still need the Adobe PDF Printer, you can install that component to the base of your workstation or View master image.
- Make sure Acrobat is not set to auto-update after applying the latest security and application updates from Adobe.
- Lastly remove all unnecessary Adobe items in Startup .
ThinApp is a very flexible solution, but it is presently not possible for ThinApp or comparable software to package Drivers, COM Plus objects, Network DCOM objects, and Windows Components such as IIS or DNS servers.

I have to update this blog. What I originally attempted did not work . A good work around though is so install something like CutePDF for a printer driver which will take care of most users needs.
I work for a Gov’t contractor and can’t just use CutePDF as there are strict guidelines as to what can and cannot be used. I am trying to get Cute PDF on the approved list, but I don’t see it happening (for whatever reason). Any new findings?

What is this issue?
I have a licensing issue as well. When running the thinapp of Acrobat or Photoshop as a regular user I get a, “licensing has stopped for this application”. Running it as administrator does not have this issue. I’ve narrowed it down to the FLEXnet service that Adobe uses to license their products. As administator, loading a service is not on issue, but as a regular user it becomes a problem. Any ideas?
Did anyone ever get the licensing issue figured out? I have users that are non-administrators that are also having the same problem as what Rolando described.
I also had the licensing issue. My fix was to grant everyone modify & write permission on the folder C:/Programdata/Adobe/sl something…I’m doing this off the top of my head. Seemed to work.
Sean Crookston: i m facing some isseus in doing thinapp for Adobe Acrobat pro x.
i m providing the printer component separately.
the actual issue is i m doing this application as thinapp fot vista32bit and windows 7 sp1 64bit.
1.when i launch acrobat distiller it works fine in vista 32bit but in 64bit windows7 it hangs.
2. on launching Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES2 on opening anew form > then when we do preview pdf it throws an c++ runtime error.
i tired a lot fo things can you help?
Active Directory Folder Redirection
For anybody looking for a solution for the age old folder redirection issues, this is not it. I have tried many different options during the ‘thinapp’ process, but the application still wants to access user AppData in the local profile.
for licensing issues add the following line in the [BuildOptions] section of the package.ini before building.
UACRequestedPrivilegesLevel=highestAvailable
Under Win7 this will automatically request user rights elevation for the FLexLM service needed to confirm the license
Under winXP you should not get these issues.

Has anyone found a comprehensive guide and best practices for ThinApping Adobe Acrobat Pro 9?
My installs are plagued with errors (same as above folks) and event log errors. Have been working on this for days.
When thinapping any Adobe product the requires Flexnet licensing, the only workaround to create a restricted admin group, add the Adobe users to both the restricted group AND the local Administrators. Then lock down administrative functions or files for the restricted group. This will allow those users to elevate their privileges to run the thinapp but most restrictive nature of Windows will block them from performing admin tasks.
I am following these instructions to try and get Adobe Acrobat Professional 9 working via thin app and I too am running into the licensing error.
I, however, am running as an Administrator and so I don’t think it’s a permissions problem – do you have any other ideas as to what it might be?

Anyhow one has left here the Tema, nevertheless, the real question is, how does one get it there a ThinApp package of Adobe Acrobat X standards zuerstellen with purely installed driver? I have already written up Adobe, but the skill / wish do not help.
